How can we help?

Cheap Audiobooks turns your books, PDFs and saved articles into audio. Here’s how the iPhone app works, what to do when something goes wrong, and how to reach us.

Save an article from Safari

Open the article in Safari, tap the Share button and choose Cheap Audiobooks. The article is extracted and saved to Articles in your library. Paywalled, private or mostly non-text pages may not save.

Basic or Premium

Basic is clear and costs the least. Premium sounds more natural and lifelike, at a higher price. You can set a default in Account and choose per book. Replaying audio that’s already been made is free.

Listen offline

In the player, tap the download icon, choose the whole book or a length of time from where you are, and confirm. The sheet shows the estimated cost first. Downloaded passages play without a connection; passages that aren’t downloaded appear faded until you’re back online.

Listening credit and purchases

Narration and Key ideas summaries are paid for from prepaid listening credit. There is no subscription. On iPhone, credit packs are bought through the App Store; on the web, through Stripe. Credit doesn’t expire, and you’ll see the estimated cost before anything new is generated. Check your balance and history in Account → Credits & usage.

Restore access on a new device

Your library and credit belong to your account, not your phone. Sign in with the same method you used before (the same email, Apple ID or Google account) and everything comes back. Downloads need to be downloaded again on the new device.

Refunds for App Store purchases

Apple handles payment and refunds for purchases made in the iPhone app. To request a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID and select the purchase. For web purchases, email us. See the terms for details.

Delete your account

In the app, open Account → Delete account and confirm. This permanently deletes your library, files, audio, progress, saved passages and your account, and can’t be undone. You can also email us from your account’s email address to ask for deletion. Read the privacy policy for what we store and why.

Chrome extension

The Chrome extension saves the article in your active tab to your private Cheap Audiobooks library.

If a page cannot be saved

Make sure the page is public and contains a readable article. Chrome does not allow extensions to run on internal pages, the Chrome Web Store or some restricted tabs. For a temporary website or extraction error, choose Try again.

Extension account and privacy

Choose Sign out in the extension card to revoke its connection. Saved articles can be removed from the app. The privacy policy explains how page URLs, article content and account information are used.
